It is with profound humility, unwavering dedication, and a vision for a renewed continent that Dr. Gamariel Mbonimana serves as the Director of Governance and Development at Arise and Shine International Ministries (ASIM). A servant-leader of deep conviction and exceptional credentials, Dr. Gamariel is a cornerstone in shaping the strategic, educational, and socio-spiritual trajectory of ASIM and its globally recognized initiative,the Africa Reborn Excellence Award.
With over two decades of cross-sectoral experience in education, governance, youth empowerment, public health, and faith-based leadership, Dr. Mbonimana embodies the values of service, integrity, and transformational impact.
A Leader Shaped by Purpose and Excellence
Dr. Mbonimana holds a PhD in Educational Management, and has earned multiple postgraduate qualifications including:
- MBA in Law Management and MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Master of Arts in Educational Management
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychopedagogy
- And is a Chartered Fellow (FCILT) with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK), the highest grade of professional membership in the field.
This powerful academic foundation complements his practical leadership in both national governance and community transformation.
Transforming Governance with a Moral Compass
From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Mbonimana served as a Member of Parliament in the Republic of Rwanda, where he was:
- President of the Rwanda Parliamentarian Network on Population and Development (RPRPD),
- A member of the Committee on Education, Culture, Technology and Youth,
- A representative to the Francophonie Parliament under the Committee on Education and Culture.
At the Heart of ASIM’s Vision
At ASIM, Dr. Gamariel brings unparalleled leadership as the Director of Governance and Development, where he oversees:
- Strategic planning for ASIM’s national and regional initiatives,
- Development of good governance models for partner ministries and grassroots organizations,
- Training programs on ethical leadership and values-based transformation,
- Monitoring and evaluation of all ministry impact efforts.
He plays a critical role in the expansion and strengthening of ASIM’s partnerships with governments, faith organizations, youth networks, and the private sector.
As Vice Chairman and Director of Awards for the Africa Reborn Excellence Award, Dr. Gamariel leads the mission of celebrating leaders who don’t just hold titles, but uplift lives. Under his leadership, the Award has become a pan-African platform honoring visionary leaders who embody the spirit of responsibility, justice, and sustainable development.

A Scholar, Mentor, and Global Advocate
As a Senior Lecturer and Director of Research, Innovation, and Consultancy at East African University Rwanda (EAUR), Dr. Mbonimana shapes the minds and values of the next generation of African scholars and leaders. He has:
- Supervised over 300 undergraduate, 130 Master’s, and 1 PhD research theses,
- Published over 29 research papers in international peer-reviewed journals,
- Delivered keynote addresses on governance, behavioral change, youth leadership, and faith-based development in forums across Africa.
Dr. Mbonimana has also lectured at University of Kigali, Mount Kenya University, Adventist University of Central Africa, and Mahatma Gandhi University, among others. He is also an External Examiner of University of Rwanda, College of Education
Faith-Driven Visionary, Social Reformer and Entrepreneur
Beyond his professional and academic achievements, Dr. Mbonimana is the Founder of Sober Club, a movement committed to helping young people overcome addiction, build character, and embrace purpose-driven living. He is also the founder of GAMA Global Network, a platform for professional mentorship, development, and spiritual accountability.
His books, “The Power of Keeping Sober”, reflect both his lived experience and his mission to help individuals, especially youth, pursue lives of dignity, discipline, and destiny. He also the Author of Entrepreneurship with Success and multiple children’s books written in English, Kinyarwanda and French published by Gama Global Network

Dr. Mbonimana is more than an executive; he is a visionary catalyst for the rebirth of Africa. Through his service in Parliament, his mentorship in universities, and his spiritual leadership in ASIM, he has become a symbol of what it means to lead with courage, compassion, and conviction.
