A Visionary Leader for a Rising Africa

Bishop Patrick R. Mutware is a seasoned faith leader, development strategist, and visionary nation-builder whose influence spans across spiritual, civic, and socio-economic transformation in Africa. As the Founder and President of Arise and Shine International Ministries (ASIM) and Chairman and CEO of the Africa Reborn Excellence Award, Bishop Mutware stands at the forefront of a continental movement that is redefining leadership, governance, and holistic human development across Africa.

With a ministry rooted in spiritual conviction and a deep understanding of Africa’s potential, Bishop Mutware leads with the belief that “transformation begins where vision meets action, and where faith fuels responsibility.”

A Life Devoted to Purpose-Driven Leadership

Bishop Mutware holds a Master’s Degree in Conflict Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in Christian Education, equipping him with both the theological grounding and practical skills needed to navigate Africa’s complex social, economic, and political landscape. His dual expertise in ministry and peacebuilding has shaped a leadership style that is values-based, community-centered, and results-oriented.

Over the years, he has founded multiple institutions committed to human advancement:

  • Arise and Shine International Ministries (ASIM),a leading nonprofit and faith-based movement advancing spiritual growth, ethical leadership, and socio-economic empowerment.
  • Africa Reborn Excellence Award,a continental platform recognizing African leaders who deliver transformational impact with integrity.
  • Vision for Africa Organization, a regional initiative promoting peace, education, and youth empowerment.
  • New Life City Church, a vibrant Christian congregation focused on spiritual renewal and moral leadership.

Founder of Arise and Shine International Ministries (ASIM)

ASIM, under Bishop Mutware’s leadership, has grown into a continental movement headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda, with legally recognized status by the Rwanda Governance Board (No. 655/31/11/2011), and with outreach offices in Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. With a mission to shape a value-driven, self-reliant Africa, ASIM is built on three pillars that are the foundation of its transformative agenda:

  1. Spiritual & Social Transformation: cultivating moral character, community health, and inclusive values.
  2. Good Governance: Advocating ethical leadership, civic engagement, and democratic accountability.
  3. Economic Empowerment: Promoting entrepreneurship, sustainable livelihoods, and poverty eradication at the grassroots.

These pillars are united by the ministry’s guiding principle: “Healthy People, Healthy Family, Healthy Country.”

Chairman & CEO,  Africa Reborn Excellence Award

In 2013, Bishop Mutware launched the Africa Reborn Excellence Award, a flagship initiative that honors individuals and institutions who exemplify transformational leadership across governance, innovation, peacebuilding, youth engagement, and national development.

Its first honoree was His Excellency President Paul Kagame, recognized for his visionary post-genocide leadership in rebuilding Rwanda. Since then, the Award has become a prestigious platform celebrating leaders who do not merely govern, but who uplift, who don’t just occupy office, but who redefine destiny.

“The Africa Reborn Award is more than a trophy; it is a torch,a light for young leaders, a beacon for the next Africa.”  Bishop Patrick R. Mutware
